Class 2: Introduction to Watercolor | Galleria Dante

December 17 @ 11:00 am - 4:00 pm CST
$1500

Discover watercolor as a painting technique by learning about color theory, the object and the abstraction, the brushstroke and the watersplash. We will paint flowers so we can allow a more spontaneous use of the pigments as a non-threatening approach to learning watercolor.

Watercolor painting is a method where pigments are suspended in a water-based solution, creating translucent and vibrant artwork. It is a technique feared by many and it is called the “chess” of painting since the artist must think in advance. But Ricardo makes this challenge approachable. He will guide you through the entire process of creating watercolors. Ricardo will walk through creating your own color wheel to understand color mixing. He will cover types of paper and basic mounting techniques like wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry, controlling the water, and he will help students overcome common fears while embracing mistakes.

This is Class 2 of a six-class series, with each class building on the previous one. Experienced watercolor artists are welcomed in all classes. Students who attend both Classes 1 and 2 will receive a complimentary 3-hour “plein air” painting session with Ricardo on Friday, December 18th, from 11 AM to 2 PM.

ALL PROFESSIONAL MATERIALS INCLUDED.
