Watercolors
Watercolors possess a unique magic that sets them apart from other artistic styles, allowing us to capture the world with a delicate balance of spontaneity and precision. The transparent layers of pigment interact with water in unpredictable ways, creating soft blends and luminous washes that evoke a sense of movement and life.
I have divided my watercolor work into two general categories: Plein Air, where I capture the beauty of the places I visit during my travels, from natural landscapes to inspiring architectural creations; and From the Soul, where I explore the connection between the tangible and the intangible in a unique, deeply personal way.
Additionally, I have created a special collection to honor one of Mexico’s most beloved traditions, the Day of the Dead. In this collection, each piece invites you to explore different facets of life and tradition, blending the realms of the living and the dead with a distinctive personal touch.
PLEIN AIR
Being physically present in a location I want to portray allows me to capture its true essence. The value of presence is irreplaceable when it comes to capturing the fleeting beauty of a scene—the shifting light, the subtle textures, and the emotions that arise in the moment.
That’s why I love painting this type of watercolor on site. The connection to the environment makes each painting feel alive and authentic.
FROM THE SOUL
This collection of watercolors show ideas that come from the soul. These paintings are done in the workshop, where I can explore the idea of two worlds: a world that I can touch, and another which I can only know is there.
DAY OF THE DEAD
Inspired by ancient traditions and vibrant culture of Mexico, this special collection of watercolors pays tribute to the Day of the Dead, a meaningful celebration honoring loved ones who have passed.
Through lively colors, these paintings portray figures that blend the living and the deceased. Some characters retain a semblance of their skin, while others fade away, exposing their skeletal forms.
Each piece serves as a tribute to the enduring connections we share with those who have come before us, reminding us of the importance of cherishing our heritage and the bonds that transcend time.
