Class 3: Drawing and Composition | Galleria Dante

February 16, 2027 @ 11:00 am - 4:00 pm CST
$1500

How do you start a painting? Specifically, how do you decide the placement or composition of the objects on the paper canvas? What to maximize and what to minimize in our perspective? This class will help answer these questions.

Ricardo will teach a method of starting your watercolor by losing your hand and drawing with scribbles. Learn about auxiliary lines and axis’s beyond a straight grid and how to arrange your space/paper based on these grids. Ricardo will also introduce the Value studio.

Learn how to consider the composition of different elements in your painting. Proper composition of a drawing helps to make your painting more dynamic and less static. The composition of elements can help you share a narrative to your painting.

This is Class 3 of a six-class series, with each class building on the previous one. Experienced watercolor artists are welcomed in all classes. Students who attend both Classes 3 and 4 will receive a complimentary 3-hour “plein air” painting session with Ricardo on Friday, February 19th, from 11 AM to 2 PM.

ALL PROFESSIONAL MATERIALS INCLUDED.
