Observation as a technique is critical because what we paint is not an exact copy, but our representation in watercolor. We will draw our 3D spaces with simple lines and with a full understanding of what we see and how we want to present it. Perspective and composition will also be given additional study.

We will review the concepts of light and darkness applied in architectural design to help us build volume. We will talk about color theory and how to apply it in your painting considering value, hue and chroma. Value helps to get contrast and differentiate the elements of our composition. Hue and chroma are useful to give depth to our scene with the correct order of colors. Finally, we will learn how to represent humans and vegetation in a schematic level, so we can give context and scale to the scenes that we paint.

This is Class 6 of a six-class series, with each class building on the previous one. Experienced watercolor artists are welcomed in all classes. Students who attend both Classes 5 and 6 will receive a complimentary 3-hour “plein air” painting session with Ricardo on Friday, March 12th, from 11 AM to 2 PM.

ALL PROFESSIONAL MATERIALS INCLUDED.

30% discount for LCS Members.

In this final class, we appreciate and represent the architecture that surrounds us via watercolor.
