Drawing and painting humans and animals can be a unique challenge. Proportion, context, movement and shadows must all be considered and studied before starting our watercolor.

Learn about the art of observation and abstraction for drawing. We will discuss measurements from general to specific. We will practice gesture drawing, a rapid approach for the representation of the human body and animals. We will learn about measuring the drawing with a based object, so we control the proportion and ensure our result looks as real as possible.

Drawing is very important because we are building the structure of our object on paper; this drawing must have proportion and the correct sensation of movement. Finally, we will be able to make a study of light and shade through creating monochromatic studies.

This is Class 4 of a six-class series, with each class building on the previous one. Experienced watercolor artists are welcomed in all classes. Students who attend both Classes 3 and 4 will receive a complimentary 3-hour “plein air” painting session with Ricardo on Friday, February 12th, from 11 AM to 2 PM.

ALL PROFESSIONAL MATERIALS INCLUDED.

30% discount for LCS Members.

Let’s paint characters, from simple and abstract shapes.
